THE BOYCHILD’S LIFETIME EXPERIENCE
At this instant, a hush fell over everyone, and their attention was riveted. It marked the culmination of our two-hour wait. The priest directed his gaze towards him and posed the question, "Raymond Makwa, do you take Agnes Munyiva as your lawful wife, through thick and thin, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer?" He held her gaze for what seemed like an eternity, leaving Agnes and the assembled guests in a state of suspended time."

Makwa and I shared the same classroom during our primary education, forming a bond that spanned 15 years. He was a friendly and amiable young man back then, a trait that has endured over time. As close friends, our free time was often spent sharing jokes and engaging in casual conversations.
I vividly recall a day when, amidst our banter, Makwa claimed to be skilled in charming women. This revelation surprised me, as he appeared shy and reserved, avoiding interactions with other boys in our class. Concerned, I cautioned him about the potential consequences of such endeavors, but he simply laughed off my worries.
The day of our KCPE marked our farewell, and as we exchanged well-wishes, a sense of disbelief overwhelmed me. I stood still, reminiscing about our shared moments, from storytelling sessions to nature walks in the hills and by the rivers. Despite the nostalgia, parting ways became inevitable.
Hoping for a reunion in the future, I envisioned meeting again, regardless of the challenges life might throw our way. Before he disappeared, I reassured him of our eventual encounter, urging him to take care.
Recently, our paths crossed once more, and the first words he uttered, after exchanging pleasantries, affirmed my earlier advice about being cautious with women. He alluded to a lengthy and disheartening story, (a story that will unfold in the upcoming part 2—stay tuned).
